District Institute of Education and Training (DIET ), Chirang is a newly established state Government Institute in Chirang District under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). It is located at Kajalgaon near the NH-37, and is Headquarter of the District. The concept of DIET was envisioned in the National Education Policy, 1986 and created by the Govt of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development in the early 1990s to strengthen elementary education and support the decentralization of education to the district level.
District Institute of Education and Training (DIET ), Chirang is a district level educational training institute for academic guidance of the schools at the grassroot level. Soon it is going to start its function for the benefit of the large section of the people empowering them educational upliftment to live a qualitative and meaningful life.
The main objective of the Institute is to provide quality education and academic support to elementary schools as well as resource support to schools for the sustainable development of education and universalization of education. It also imparts education and training to all concerned official in the district. The institute will support the academic part of the schools engaged in different activities and solving the immediate problems of the schools as well as in research activities for the professional development of the faculties. The Institute will facilitate learning for the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits which are exhibited in the institute. It will try to make the individuals aware of their commitments, responsibilities and obligations to society by providing different training programmes.

Education is one the means to transmit the knowledge in life and it luminates life by banishing the darkness. Apart from the charted missions and visions, DIET Chirang also endeavours to play a pivotal role in social transformation through learning. School is a miniature society and understanding its far reaching meaning of it, DIET Chirang sincerely attempts to give academic support to schools and teachers in the District in collaboration with SCERT, Assam.
We, in DIET Chirang aim at comprehensive and overall development of students and teachers through different methods of learning by unleashing their dormant talents so as to make them worthy citizens with good personality and capable of contributing towards the development of the country.
We give importance to behavioural discipline, moral integrity, and cognitive development of teachers and students while they undergo training. Our faculty members strive to teach not only academic lessons but also in imbibing life skills required for optimum self development to face challenges of this new era of technology driven world.
The greatest asset of this fledgling DIET Chirang is the faculty members. Their dedication and commitment for giving support to schools and teachers in every nook and corner in the District is noteworthy.
With all the stakeholders of DIET Chirang, I am confident that in coming days, DIET Chirang shall play a crucial role in creating a good and quality academic environment in schools in the District.
